@bookshelfmomma Let’s talk book reviews. How do y’all keep up? Once I’m done with one book, I just want to jump into another. It’s hard to stop and write out a review. After a chat with jamiemcgillen about her latest book I saw how important those reviews were. So I have made a goal this year to try to leave meaningful reviews, but also trying to leave something for each book I’ve read. So I read The Return in January. I love Nicholas Sparks books. Pretty clean love story and it doesn’t take much emotional investment. Which back in January was something I needed. You have an army vet — Trevor who deals with PTSD returning to his grandfather’s home in North Carolina after the grandfather’s death. He tends to the bee farm while he is there. He meets the local police officer Natalie who herself has a unique story. Their interactions are a breath of fresh air for both parties, until their relationship try’s to deepen. There is also a mystery around Callie one of the locals. I hate to give to much away in my reviews but I do want to say I enjoyed this book very much. It had a new perspective that I hadn’t thought about and I love when I can put myself in a new situation through a book. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Also this picture was #stagedattarget thanks to shobizreads for the tutorial! 😂 #thereturn #nicholassparks #bookreview #4star #bookstagram #readthis #contemporaryfiction #fiction #bookrecommendations #lovedit #love #books #bookstagrammer #newbernnc #bookphotography #bookreviews #bookreccomendation #whatiread #readersofinstagram #readforfun #booklife #booklove #booklover #bookaddict #bibliophile #needtoread #review #ilovebooks

Book Synopsis

In the romantic tradition of Dear John, an injured Navy doctor meets two extremely important women whose secrets will change the course of his life in this #1 New York Times bestseller.

Trevor Benson never intended to move back to New Bern, North Carolina. But when a mortar blast outside the hospital where he worked sent him home from Afghanistan with devastating injuries, the dilapidated cabin he'd inherited from his grandfather seemed as good a place to regroup as any.

Tending to his grandfather's beloved beehives, Trevor isn't prepared to fall in love with a local . . . yet, from their very first encounter, Trevor feels a connection with deputy sheriff Natalie Masterson that he can't ignore. But even as she seems to reciprocate his feelings, she remains frustratingly distant, making Trevor wonder what she's hiding.

Further complicating his stay in New Bern is the presence of a sullen teenage girl, Callie, who lives in the trailer park down the road. Trevor hopes Callie can shed light on the mysterious circumstances of his grandfather's death, but she offers few clues--until a crisis triggers a race to uncover the true nature of Callie's past, one more intertwined with the elderly man's passing than Trevor could ever have imagined.

In his quest to unravel Natalie and Callie's secrets, Trevor will learn the true meaning of love and forgiveness . . . and that in life, to move forward, we must often return to the place where it all began.
